German Pancakes

Hello everyone. I've been reading your blogger buffet for a while now, and thank you everyone who post's their recipes- I've used some and I love getting ideas from here! I just was added as a chef, so I thought I'd post one of our favorite things for breakfast. I'm not sure if everyone already knows how to make this or not... but I didn't until recently- So here you go... :)

3 Eggs
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 450, and while it's heating, melt butter in a 8 inch pan in the oven. Meanwhile, whip eggs until think and lemon colored. Add milk, flour, salt, and vanilla. Pour egg mixture into melted butter, and put back in the oven for 15-20 minutes, until puffy and edges are golden brown. Cut and serve with syrup, or powdered sugar.

1 Large Green Bell Pepper, cut into pieces
1/2 C Sugar
3 T Vinegar
1 T Soy Sauce

Chinese Chicken Salad

1 head romaine lettuce
1 head red leaf lettuce
grilled or boiled chicken (use as much as you want)
linguine noodles ( i usually use about 1/2 the package and break them in half)
pea pods (as many as you want)
chow mein noodles
you can add any other vegies you want

wash and cut up both heads of lettuce
cook linguine (instructions on package)
cut the pepper
cut ends off the pea pods (optional)
put it all together in a big bowl

dressing:
1/2 cup vinegar
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 cup vegetable oil (don't use olive oil)
  1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard 1/2 bag frozen onions
mix it all together (it usually tastes better if you let is sit in the fridge for a while before putting it on the salad, i usually try to make it the night before)

when you're ready to eat, add the dressing and the chow mein noodles ( if you add the chow mein noodles before this point they will be soggy)

Rice Supper

This is one of those meals that you make when you forgot to plan for dinner.

It is really easy, and is ready in like 20 minutes.

Ingredients
8 oz Canadian Bacon (I have used ham slices also)
3 green onions, chopped
1 cup Minute Rice
6 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cup shredded cheese

Line the bottom of an 8x8 pan with Canadian Bacon (overlap where necessary). Sprinkle rice, green onions, and one cup water over meat. Sprinkle salt and pepper. Pour Eggs over rices, sprinkle salt and pepper again, and then layer cheese on top. Microwave covered for 6 minutes. Uncover and microwave for 4-6 minutes, or until eggs are set.

Hamburger Stroganoff

I have not put this on because I kind of thought everyone probably already knows this recipe. Then my sister called the other day and asked how I make this dish? So I figured maybe not everyone knows and it is one of our families favorites. Super Easy!!

Brown 1 lb hamburger and strain
Saute mushrooms in a little butter (optional I also sometimes saute onions too)
add 1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 16 oz. tub of sour cream (you don't have to use all of it I just do it to taste)
1/4 to 1/2 cup milk
a few squirts of Worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper (you can use garlic salt)
let simmer until hot all through

Serve over wide egg noodles or rice.
I put a cooked veggie with it and that's it. It is easy and tastes good.

Carrot Cake

I don't usually get excited about carrot cake, but my mother in law makes this and it's my favorite cake, really. She makes it in a jelly roll pan (a cookie sheet with sides).

2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup oil
2 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp soda
3 cups grated carrots (she grinds them in the blender by filling up the blender with wather, adding the carrots, blending, then draining the carrots. If you do it this way, add 1/4 cup more flour.)
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Bake at 350 for 35-40 min. (In a jelly roll pan)

Frosting:
1lb. powdered sugar
1 3-1/2 oz. pkg cream cheese, softened

Steak and Tomatoes

This is one of those great meals with freezer and pantry ingredients. It's so comforting and good.

1 tenderized (cube) steak for each person
about 3 cans stewed tomatoes

Add one can of stewed tomatoes to the crockpot. Sear the meat in a frying pan (season with salt and pepper), layer over tomatoes in crockpot. Deglaze pan with another can of tomatoes, and add to pot. Depending on how much meat you have in the pot, add one more can of tomatoes for every 2 people. (I like lots of tomatoes and juice to pour over the rice) Cook 8 hours. (The tomatoes get sweet and savory as they cook long and slow. Serve over rice.
